Poll Results: Who Wore It Better, Kit's Play Dress?

After posting the #whoworeitbetteramericangirl contest on my Instagram I decided to share the images here on the blog too. It seemed like as good a reason as any to do another poll. 

No surprise, as in the Instagram contest, Melody came out on top with 75% of the votes! That girl can rock anything. Addy, Gabby, Kaya, Kit, Mei, and even our Bitty Twin also received votes, but the beautiful Dee Dee reigns supreme! 

Now that I have the Cat's Meow outfit from Our Generation I think I'll be doing another Who Wore It Better contest soon. Until then, keep your eyes open for another poll that I'll post in the next day or two.

It's been a couple of weeks since our last poll closed, but I finally got around to putting up a new one. This one, appropriately, is about the amazing Miss. Melody!

AGIG DOC Challenge Day 5

I wasn't able to get out as early as I had wanted for Kaya's photo shoot this morning, because I had a little photo assistant that doesn't understand that the sun doesn't wait for us to find our shoes, but I'm still pretty happy with the images we managed to capture this morning. I still want to try and make it out at dawn sometime, but I'm not going to stress about getting it done this week. 

Life is what happens while you're making other plans, after all, and I loved having some one on one time with one of my tiny humans. When you are a mother of more than one child you sometimes need to work a little bit harder to make sure that all of your children get that individual time with you. It's harder, because there are always going to be needs that the others have, and sometimes those will get in the way of your plans, but when you see an opportunity you quickly tell the only other person awake in the house to throw a sweatshirt on over their jammies, grab their own doll, and get a move on. 

While I snapped pictures of Kaya I was followed around by my small one taking pictures of their favorite doll with my phone, and occasionally calling out helpful suggestions like "Have her climb this tree, Mommy!" or "Don't get bit in the butt by a snake!" (As I was squatting in the tall grasses trying to get a better shot.) 

Words to live by, ladies and gentlemen. "Don't get bit in the butt by a snake."

And, because I can't go anywhere lately without Miss. Melody, (Seriously, I might have a problem!) I took a couple of her in her brand new outfit!

Melody's Mini Shoot

The rain didn't allow us to take Melody out for her first photo shoot like we had planned today, but I couldn't resist pulling out the camera and taking at least a couple of shots with the available light that we had inside. 

This. Girl. Is. Stunning! The more I look at her the more I think it. I will fully admit that I was initially so disappointed that Melody wasn't going to have those amazing dimples, but she is absolutely beautiful without them. I know that some people weren't in love. If you can, see her in person. Trust me. I can't wait to get her out for a full photo shoot!

The rain put even the usually jolly Bo in a bad mood.

Melody was a little disappointed too, but her sunny disposition wouldn't let a little rain get in her way! Her little light shined bright for a mini photo shoot inside!

What did I tell you? Stunning! 

This girls hair flip needs a wide angle lense! I absolutely adore it! 

An Amazing Melody Ellison Leak!

Have I mentioned that I absolutely love the blog, Lissie & Lilly? Well, I do. I about had a heart attack the day that I saw my blog added to their list of Links & Resources! It was like finding out some celebrity knows your name! Crazy!

Anyway, Lissie & Lilly has some amazing friends, and one of them got their hands on an early release of Melody! Lissie & Lilly was kind enough to not only write a review, but also to share a ton of photographs of the eagerly anticipated Melody! 

I can't share any images here, as they aren't mine, but please go an check her out. She's gorgeous, the review is amazing, and my Melody Fever is so much worse now than it already was!

There Is No Cure

There is absolutely no cure for our Melody fever! I wrote about Melody Fever a couple of weeks ago, and our entire household (which includes our nieces, and even my darling Mr. D) has caught it. I strongly suspect that it can't be cured until we actually have a Melody in our arms, though it might be helped by at least having a release date. (Hint, hint, AG!) 

All of the possible Melody leaks aren't helping at all! Lissie and Lily leaked this absolutely stunning golden coat at the end of May, and many in Doll World believe that it could be Melody's. It is so easy to picture her wearing this coat to Christmas Eve service at her church in Detroit...along with this dress!

This dress was also leaked on Lissie and Lily several weeks ago, though the original eBay listing's pictures weren't as beautiful as the current listing. (Which has already shot up to higher than I planned on spending to get my hands on one.) I can not express how much I want this dress/coat combo for my Melody! Even if it isn't meant for Melody I want this for my Melody! Perhaps I'll have to put a bug in Mr. D's ear for Christmas.

My Melody fever is worse. Much worse. They'd better hurry up and announce her release date quickly!

Melody Fever

We read Melody's book in our house right after it came out. Ever since then we've had an excited countdown going to her release date, though that has of course been made difficult by the fact that we don't actually know her release date. Still, we're excited to know that it will be in the next month or two...or three...(Oh please don't let them push it all the way back to August!) 

I'd really been holding out for the end of June to coincide with her next book releases, but the fact that the Wellie Wishers are being released end of June put an end to that hope. I can't see American Girl releasing the Wellie Wishers and their newest BeForever doll at the same time, and if they did I don't think it would speak well for their commitment to either brand. My new hope is that it will at least be no later than the end of July. This will be our first official release event (we went to see Lea the day she was released, but GotY will never hold the place in my heart that the Historical girls do!), and I am the kids are over the moon about it. 

Our Melody Fever isn't helped when stuff like this pops up on my eBay either!

I am positive that my mother had this exact outfit growing up in the 60s. Even if it isn't a possible Melody leak (I've mentioned before that I'm not as familiar with the JLY line, so this could have been released 5 years ago for all I know.) I so want to see her in it!

The print could also lend its self to Julie's 70s time period, but I have Melody on the brain, and the bold patterns really work for either decade. (And I so want it to be for Melody!)

I'm not as thrilled with the tights and shoes (mostly the shoes) they have posted with it, but no one said that she had to wear those too.

Until they announce her release date (any day now AG) I'll just be over here daydreaming!


UPDATED: Here is the link to the original eBay listing. A part of me is still kicking myself for not snatching this up when I had the chance. 

Latest News: Melody Books, Mini Doll, and Doll Release and Lea Movie Release and Premier Events

I wrote yesterday about the adorable Melody Mini Doll that is rumored to be released sometime in June 2016. If you missed the picture, I'll post it again, just because she is too darn cute!

The June release date for this doll seems to line up with the release of the newest Melody book, Never Stop Singing: A Melody Classic 2, and Melody's 3 Book Set release, both of which are listed as June, 23, 2016 on Amazon. 

The same rumor mill is also whispering that we can expect the release of the 18 inch Melody Ellison doll to be around the same time since the release of recent dolls, such as Maryellen Larkin, have coincided with the release of their second books. Of course, there is no official release date yet, and there are also rumors of Melody's release being as late in the summer as August, so it's all speculation at this point. I have personally heard different things from different employees at American Girl, so am taking all of it with a grain of salt until the release date is announced. (I'm hoping for the end of June though. *fingers crossed*) 

The release date for Girl of the Year, Lea Clark's, movie has also been released. Lea to the Rescue is available for pre-order now, and will ship on June, 14, 2016.

Melody Mini Doll!

This might be old news, but it's the first I'm seeing of it. This amazing beauty was posted to Tumbler 4 days ago by Dolls Of Colour. (Though it could have been posted before that, and has been posted several times since. This is where I first saw it.)

Given my Kewpie Doll's love of the mini dolls (they are the perfect size for her little hands), and my love of this mini doll, we might have to get two! Melody is already cute as a button, but that cuteness is taken completely over the top with her mini doll!

Who else plans on adding this beauty to their collection? Presumably she'll be available sometime in June 2016. (Which is when her next books are set to be released and many people assume that her BeForever doll will be released as well.)
