Poll Question: What Time Period Would You Like To See Covered By The Next BeForever Doll?

One of the reasons I started Dolly Wolly Doodle was to connect with other people who love the American Girl Collection too. One of the ways I would love to do this is with regular (Weekly, biweekly, monthly...I haven't decided yet.) polls discussing everything from your favorite American Girl products to what you would love to see from American Girl  "someday".

One of the neatest things about the American Girl Brand is it's ability to teach history through play. Pleasant Rowland founded her company with the idea to educate children about American history through their dolls and the unique stories covering various time periods. Over the last 30 years there have been 20 Historical and Best Friend dolls released covering time periods from the 1760s to the 1970s. While many important and history shaping time periods have been addressed, there is so much more American history left to cover. Which is where our poll comes in.

What time period in American history would you like to see covered by the next BeForever doll? You can find the poll on the top right column of the blog. Don't see the time period you would like listed? Choose "Another Time Period" and then leave a comment stating what time period you'd like to see and why. (You can comment why you would choose that time period even if it is one of the options too. I love comments!)

I look forward to finding out what you want to see. (And who knows? Maybe someone from American Girl will see this and send it up the corporate ladder to the Big Wigs who make these decisions. Stranger things have happened.)

So, Here We Are...

So, here we are. The first post. Hopefully it will be the first of many.

This all started 25ish years ago (long before the Internet or blogging were things that she'd ever imagined) with a single little girl who loved pouring over the Pleasant Company catalogs and dreaming of the dolls and accessories she would have one day. Fast forward to 2015 when this now young woman and her daughter both got their first American Girl dolls the same year, and the love affair began again fresh and new!

With the introduction of the internet, Facebook, buy/sell/trade pages, eBay, and Instagram, there is now this huge world for American Girl dolls and the girls (and boys and women and men) who love them! It's easy to get lost in it and overwhelmed by it. I wanted to start a place where I could compile all of the things that interest me, and hopefully other people, about this "crazy doll world" that we have entered into. Dolly Wolly Doodle is a blog that is going to hopefully encompass all of that, and more as it grows, and I welcome you along on this journey!

The goal is for Dolly Wolly Doodle to be a one stop shop for many of your American Girl needs. I hope to, one day soon, have a blog full of dolls, their collections, histories, reviews, customized dolls (because there is this world of customization out there that absolutely blows my mind!), home schooling tips and lesson plans, latest American Girl news, trivia, fan stories, and so much more! Stick around! It's going to be exciting!

So, pull up a chair, kick back with your favorite beverage and piece of historical fiction. Invite your friends! I think it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm glad you're here for it.
